I think I might stick around and play this for a while! It’s a very nice change of pace from the intensity of Bloodborne to poke around planets, see what I can find, and just take things at my own pace. I haven’t tried it since before the next-gen update, and wow, does this game feel a lot better at 60FPS and super short load times! They also clearly took another pass on the environmental designs, and the game looks really nice. I’m looking forward to playing through the rest of it and finally checking it off my list.įinally, I decided to give No Man’s Sky another try. Having a bit of trouble with Rom right now, but this is still an excellent FromSoft game. So, this time I am skipping chalice dungeons and having a great time. I never got more than maybe 20% through the game the last time around - I started the first Chalice dungeon, and the setting was just so boring to me that I lost a lot of enjoyment and fell off. My non-Outriders time has largely been made up of Bloodborne.
So, between the game becoming more boring and the apparent bugs out there that are wiping some folks’ inventories, I think I’ll take a small break and see what it looks like in a few weeks. I know that they’ve already nerfed some of the ammo abilities, but I’d love to see them buff some of the other stuff to be as effective. And so all the encounters just start to feel same-y.

Without getting into the nitty gritty of it, there are some mod synergies that basically result in me having constant uptime on Volcanic Rounds, which lights my ammo on fire and ignores armor. That being said, I actually found a combo on my pyromancer that is pretty broken and has actually made the game more boring as a result - it just is so much more efficient than anything else, that it feels hard to justify trying something else. It’s clear that they put a lot of thought into trying to make some very fun synergies that are still enjoyable solo, and not just with a group.

It’s been really compelling to get a new mod, see how it interacts with your abilities, and update your playstyle accordingly. With few exceptions, it all feels very “been there, done that”.īut, as Austin has talked about on Waypoint Radio, the build game is fantastic. The environments themselves are also really generic, and not super enjoyable to traverse. It just oscillates back and forth between being a serious sci-fi story with character arcs they are expecting me to care about, and really bad edgelord-y dark “humor” that rarely lands. The writing is truly abysmal, and it’s impossible to know what tone the writers are going for.
